Gardening from Scratch Course
OVERVIEW: Gardening from Scratch is a 6-week course with 2.5-hours practical workshops for beginner or intermediate gardeners. Additional extension resources and suggestions provided enable intermediate gardeners to extend their knowledge and understanding of principles and methods. We blend basic theory, discussion and onsite practical hands-on exercises. At the end of the six workshops, participants will have met new people, learned new gardening skills and be prepared to grow edible plants confidently at your own home whether a large, small or balcony garden.
TOPICS COVERED: Gardening basics of growing edible foods: Propagation methods, design elements, soil food web, compost and worm farms, natural pest management, weeds, and troubleshooting your specific personal gardening challenges. Participants will have opportunities to visit and work in the CSCH community garden to see some of these methods in a thriving community garden.
Sustainable Gardening Course
OVERVIEW: 6-week course with 2.5-hours of theory, discussion and practical hands-on experiences. Extension resources and suggestions provided enable participants to follow passions and gain deeper understanding of principles and methods then apply within their sphere of influence. Understanding the changing climate and our relationship with wildlife and our local environment is covered in design aspects. Reading our landscape helps us understand how our relationship with our natural world relates to our gardening practices.
TOPICS COVERED: The 6-weeks of gardening workshops include: sustainable gardening principles, design, waste reduction, worm farms, composting, seed sowing, food security, designing for biodiversity, indignous plants, weed foraging and soil health.

Individual/family workshopping: *$65-$110 p/hour home visit (Minimum 3-hours. Max 4 people) Workshopping for individuals and families with you in your garden demonstrates how to design your garden with sustainable elements, attend to garden tasks and/or build skill levels and confidence. You may choose from topics above.
Concession card holders/seniors/NFP: *$60-$85 per/hour (Minimum 3-hours. Max 4 people)
Groups (max 12 people) - theory and practical topics as noted above: From *$60 per hour, please contact for quote
